Bikaner, Jaisalmer and Jodhpur forms the desert triangle in the state of Rajasthan Bikaner was founded in the year 1488 by Rao bika, a descendant of Jodha, the founder of Jodhpur. It covers an area of 38.10 square km. The city is surrounded by high fortifications with seven-kilometers long wall, which encircles the old city and has five entrances.
