Los Nevados National Natural Park
Los Nevados National Park is a compact mountain range with volcanic peaks in the middle of Colombia and it is the nearest and most easily accessible mountain range from Bogotá. This is a park with untamed beauty with mountains, dormant volcanoes, hot springs and recent evidence of tragic eruptions in the backdrop. Within the national park are the immense volcanoes: Nevado del Ruiz, Nevado de Santa Rosa and Nevado del Tolima. All three can be climbed. The easily spotted animals found in the park are spectacled bear, puma, tiger cat, mountain tapir, northern pudú as well as white-eared opossum. Noteworthy birds in the park include blue-crowned motmot, yellow-eared parrot, Fuertes's parrot, rufous-fronted parakeet, Andean condor, brown-banded antpitta and ruddy duck. The bearded helmetcrest hummingbird is endemic to the region.
Matecana City Zoo
The Matecana City Zoo is located in Pereira, Colombia, the work of the Society of Public Improvements Pereira, who on January 26, 1951, through a management buy the 42 acres of farm Matecana. Currently the zoo is at its Matecana master plan renovation of facilities that aim to change cages by plant more closely resemble the natural habitats of the animals exhibited originating ecosystems, providing a better quality of life for animals and a better understanding to the community who daily visit.
Lake Otun
Lake Otun is a small lake in the Nevados National Park, in the Risaralda department of Colombia. It located at an altitude of 3,900 meters and has an area of 1.5 square kilometres. Lake Otun contains a large population of rainbow trout, introduced for recreational fishing and a major attraction for visitors to the lake.
