It is surrounded by four hill ranges - Banari Devi, Kasar Devi, Shayahi Devi and Katarmal. The first three peaks are well known for temple of Goddesses and Katarmal is famous for Sun Temple. From Almora the cultural city, are Brightend Corner (2kms), Kasar Devi Temple (6 kms), Chitai Temple (8 kms), Doli Dana Temple (3 kms) and Katar Mal Surya Mandir(10 kms).

Weather
Almora stands at a height of 1,638 meters. The best season is April-June and September-November. For those interested in snow views the best time to visit is in early summer and autumn.
