Didihat is a small town in Pithoragarh District in the state of Uttrakhand, India. It is a growing tourist destination, with pleasant weather with estimated distance of 150 KMs from Nanital and 550 KMs from New Delhi. This is an amazing and most spectacular places to visit. It overlooks the carefully protected Himalayas. From sunrise to moon rise, season-to-season, it will always display a changing palette of light and color but the sweeping expanse of nature will remain extraordinary. Didihat, located in Pithoragarh district of Uttrakhand is a town and nagar panchayat. This town is a tourist destination situated 54km. from Pithorgarh. The word Didihat is taken from a Kumaoni word `Dand` which means a small hillock. This quaint town situated on the hilltop plain of Digtarh with the Charamgad or Bhadigad river flowing below is indeed a tourists delight. It is a tehsil and subdivision of the Pithoragarh district. It is divided into three developmental blocks- Didihat, Kanalichhina, and Berinag.In the past this region was ruled by the Raika Malla kings of Sirakot. Rich in flora it is situated at an elevation of 1,725 m above sea level, it is a very picturesque and beautiful valley surrounded by green and attractive ridges. It is presently the pilgrim route to Kailash Mansarovar. Didihat offers marvelous views of Panchchuli and Trishuli peaks. The ancient Shirakot Temple of Lord Malay Nath, built by Reika Kings is situated here. Narayan Swamy Ashram at Narayan Nager is another attraction in the vicinity.


Summer begins in Didihat from March and is extended till June.The maximum temperature summer in Didihat is 24° Celsius. Light woollen clothes are required in summer and the winter season begins to Didihat November to march.and temperature touches 2°c in winter season.

Shirakote :

This is the famous temple of God Malaynath (Lord Shiva). Shirakote provide attractive view of lush green valley and Himalayan peaks. It also give the panoramic view of Didihat.


Askot was the ancient kingdom of Katyur Dynasty. There is a palace of the last Katyuri king. The name has been derived from the word ‘Assi-Kot’, that Is eighty forts. There are remains of the ancient forts all over the area. The area is rich for its Sal, Oak and pine forests and numbers of natural waterfalls. The Ashram of Swami Narayan & the Malika Arjun Temple are the other places of the attraction.
