Pithoragarh is the Himalayan district in the state of Uttarakhand
Pithoragarh, a city with a Municipal Board in the Pitoragarh Distirc in the Indian State of Uttarakand, was carved out of district of Almora in 1962. Pithoragarh was once a stronghold of the Chand Rajas, and the temples and ruined fort bear witness to their rule. The town lay on the old trade route to Tibet and is still en route the sacred trail to Mount Kailash and Lake Mansarovar. Pithoragarh town is delight for mountaineers, trekkers, adventure seekers, botanists, pilgrims as well as sightseers. It is an important halt on the famous Kailash Mansarovar Yatra route. The rivers originating from the Pithoragarh mountains are perfect for water sports, while the lush jungles here teem with rich variety of flora and fauna. This eastern most district of Uttaranchal popularly called as 'Miniature Kashmir', shares international boundary with China (Tibet) on the north and Nepal on the east. The northern parts are studded with majestic peaks like Nanda Devi (east), Nanda Devi (west), Trishul, Nandakot, Rajrambha, Panchachuli group etc. The alpine meadows and glaciers below these majestic mountains has made the district a virtual paradise for nature lovers. Best time: The months of March to June and mid-September to October are ideal for visiting Pithoragarh, while July to early September is the rainy season.

Summer are very pleasant with moderate climate and the temperature ranges from 7-20°C. Summers is ideal for all sight seeing, temple visit and also for visiting nearby attractions. winter are chilly days with average minimum temperature near 4°C, and maximum temperature 8°C. .
