Stuttgart is the capital of the state of Baden Württemberg in southern Germany. The sixth largest city in Germany. Stuttgart is spread across a variety of hills, valleys and parks unusual for a German city and often a source of surprise to visitors who primarily associate the city with its industrial reputation as the cradle of the automobile. Stuttgart has the status of Stadtkreis, a type of self administrating urban county. It is also the seat of the state legislature, the regional parliament, local council and the Protestant State Church in Württemberg as well as one of the two co seats of the bishop of the Roman Catholic Diocese of Rottenburg Stuttgart. The city of Stuttgart ranked 30 globally in Mercers 2010 liveability rankings, and 7th in Germany behind top ranked cities such as Frankfurt, Düsseldorf and Munich. For economic and social innovation the city was ranked 11 globally, 2nd in Germany after Hamburg and 7th in Europe in 2009 out of 256 cities. Aussichtsplattform

Eine Aussichtsplattform ist eine mit einem Geländer versehene erhöhte Plattform, von der aus sich eine ausgewählte Aussicht ergibt. Plattformen dieser Art können Teil eines Gebäudes sein, beispielsweise eines Turms, oder in der natürlichen Topographie errichtet sein, wie auf einer Bergkuppe oder dem Rand einer Schlucht. Eine Aussichtsplattform ist stets mit einem Geländer oder einer Brüstung versehen, zusätzlich kann noch ein Schutzgitter angebracht sein. Daneben gibt es auch vollständig verglaste Konstruktionen. Offene Plattformen sind zum Fotografieren besser geeignet, da keine störenden Reflexe auftreten. Aussichtsplattformen sind häufig mit fest installierten Fernrohren versehen, die nach Münzeinwurf einen besseren Blick in die Ferne gestatten. Im Regelfall sind keine Sitzplätze vorgesehen.

Max Eyth See

Max Eyth See is a lake at Stuttgart Hofen, Baden Württemberg, Germany. At an elevation of 214 m, its surface area is ca. 17.3 ha. Max Eyth lake in Stuttgart is an artificial lake located right on the Neckar, at the foot of vineyards between Mulhouse and Mayrhofen. In the 1920s, was dismantled in Mayrhofen gravel pit in an increasingly growing, which is the origin of today's Max Eyth lake. In 1935 Stuttgart's largest lake was created during the channeling of the river Neckar. Fernsehturm Stuttgart

The Fernsehturm Stuttgart is the world's first TV tower built from concrete and prototype for many towers of that kind all over the world. It is located on the so called 'Hoher Bopser' hill in the southern Stuttgart district of Degerloch. After a construction period of 20 months it was placed in service February 5, 1956, by Süddeutscher Rundfunk today Südwestrundfunk. The tower broadcasts several public FM radio stations and transmitted the ARD TV network's analogue service until 2006. The digital television services have moved to nearby Fernmeldeturm Stuttgart, which also broadcasts private FM radio stations in the area. Although controversial at first, it quickly became a well known landmark of Stuttgart and tourist attraction. From the two observation decks there is a view of Stuttgart, from the forests and vineyards in and around Stuttgart to the Swabian Jura and the Black Forest.

New Palace

The New Palace is a building which stands on the south edge of Schlossplatz, the central square in Stuttgart, Germany. The castle is built in late Baroque style. From 1746 to 1797 and from 1805 to 1807, it served as a residence of the kings of Württemberg. At other times, the Ludwigsburg Palace, a few miles to the north was the favoured residence of the royal family. The palace stands adjacent to the Old Castle. The castle was almost completely destroyed by Allied bombing during the Second World War and was reconstructed between 1958 and 1964. During this time most of the inside of the castle was also restored and the building was used by the Baden Württemberg State Parliament. Today it is used by the State Ministries of Finance and Education. Public tours of the building are only permitted by special arrangement.

Tubingen

Tübingen is a traditional university town in central Baden Württemberg, Germany. It is situated 30 km south of the state capital, Stuttgart, on a ridge between the Neckar and Ammer rivers. About one in ten people living in Tübingen is a student. The Ammer and Steinlach rivers discharge into the Neckar river, which flows right through the town, just south of the medieval old town in an easterly direction. Large parts of the city are hilly, with the Schlossberg and the Österberg in the city centre and the Schnarrenberg and Herrlesberg, among others, rising immediately adjacent to the inner city.

Altes Schloss

The Altes Schloss near Bad Berneck in south Germany is a ruined castle built in the Gothic style as an Amtsburg towards the end of the High Middle Ages. The castle lies on the Schlossberg of Bad Berneck in the Upper Franconian district of Bayreuth in Bavaria. Today the lofty keep is the emblem of this small spa town. The ruins are open to the public at any time. To the west at the foot of the castle the roadbed of the historic road, the Via Imperii still climbs up the hill. A free car park is located on the outskirts of Berneck on the B2 federal road from where the castle is a 15 minute walk along the footpath.

Stiftskirche

The Stiftskirche Stuttgart is an inner city church in Stuttgart, the capital of Baden Württemberg, Germany. It is the main church of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in Württemberg Evangelische Landeskirche in Württemberg as well as the parish church of the evangelical inner city church district of Stuttgart. In 1240, a stately three naved church with two towers is built in the Romanic style, apparently by the Counts of Württemberg who from around that time are residing in the nearby Old Castle. From the end of the 13th century a double tomb is preserved in today's South tower chapel. It contains the remains of Ulrich I, Count of Württemberg and his second wife, Countess of Württemberg, Agnes von Schlesien Liegnitz.

Weissenhof Estate

The Weissenhof Estate is a housing estate built for exhibition in Stuttgart in 1927. It was an international showcase of what later became known as the International style of modern architecture. The twenty one buildings vary slightly in form, consisting of terraced and detached houses and apartment buildings, and display a strong consistency of design. What they have in common are their simplified facades, flat roofs used as terraces, window bands, open plan interiors, and the high level of prefabrication which permitted their erection in just five months. All but two of the entries were white. Bruno Taut had his entry, the smallest, painted a bright red.

Schlossgarten

The Stuttgart Palace Garden is a 600 year old park in Stuttgart. It starts in the city center and follows the course of the previous day Nesenbachs piped to the Neckar. As part of Stuttgart 21 major modifications with the construction and the subsequent award of a portion of the existing railway lines are planned. Mid 16th Duke Christoph century can to rebuild the old castle to create a Renaissance pleasure garden, to the 18th Century is preserved, from 1740 was designed by the court architect Johann Christoph David Leger on the edge of the pleasure garden built in the Military Academy.
